Meet the Staff...

Kirstin Shrom-Rhoads
Director
Camp Otterbein

Kirstin has enjoyed being Director at Camp Otterbein since 2003. Her professional background is in Group Counseling and Organizational Dynamics. Using these skills, she has both worked and consulted in camps, churches, communities, and schools. Kirstin has served on the UM National Camp and Retreat Committee since 2007. She is a graduate of Nehemiah Leadership Training and is an American Camp Association Standards Visitor. Kirstin is an introductory kayaking instructor and has been leading high and low ropes challenge course groups since 1992. Also, Kirstin is a CPI Nonviolent Crisis Intervention trainer for West Ohio Camps. Finally, Kirstin is enrolled in Drew Theological School’s program for Camping Ministry which highlights ecology and theology, Spiritual Development, and Multi-intelligences. In her personal time, Kirstin enjoys running, reading/writing, photography, and travel/culture as well as serving in her church’s youth ministry with her husband Jason.

Kirstin has special interests in facilitating individual and group growth through intentional and playful community. She enjoys working with groups in focus areas of outdoor adventure specialties, Christian-based community living, creation care and outdoor living specialties, holistic wellness/soul tending, and living worshipfully with the Sacred.
