Camp Otterbein is a beautiful 450+ acreage of land set aside in the Hocking Hills as sacred space for playing, learning and living together in Christian community. Some have tenderly nicknamed it “God’s Backyard.”Share incredible adventures like swimming and canoeing at the lake or playing on huge inflatables including our water trampoline/blob and giant floating iceberg. Moments of personal and spiritual growth might occur on our Adventure Trail (team challenge course) or in outdoor worship in sacred spaces like Vesper Hill, Inspiration Point, the Meadow, and the Lakeside Fire Circle. The weekly schedule also includes a Thursday night candlelight service and a talent show of Gags and Gifts. In addition to fun-filled camp activities and creativities, campers will learn to communicate with God through various styles of prayers and to foster stewardship through Camp Care Projects.
Choices of camp activities like archery, canoeing, fishing, Frisbee golf, boulder wall, water games, Adventure Trail, mudpit, giant soccer, cornhole, creekstomp, Chicken Hill, scooters, cardboard castles, art projects, and parachute games make for an awesome week at Camp Otterbein. All appreciate the blaze of a campfire and cooking the perfect “HOT PIE IRON!” or s’more! Special elementary camper events include building a unique space at your Home-in-the- Woods, singing on hayrides, relaxing with story time, and laughing uproariously at the very messy game of “Chaos!”
Middle School and High School campers might find themselves kayaking on the Hocking River, rock climbing in Conkles Hollow, hiking on Sassafras Ridge, gliding down the hillside on a mountainboard, or sharing in a group pow-wow at a nighttime campfire. The Ultimate High School experience includes Capture the Flag after dark, swinging in the trees of our NEW high ropes course, evening campfires of staff testimonies and the option of shelter-building or a sleepout.
